Daffodil Forage

An awesome bolt-on foraging toy for any parrot. A sturdy hardwood mini pot with lid skewered on a 10cm stainless steel bolt. With a floppy vegetable tanned leather flower wedged between lid and pot, you have an attractive daffodil just waiting for a bird to discover what’s inside the trumpet.

The lid needs to be un-wedged from the pot which will allow some wiggle room access to the treasure you place there for it. The leather flower won’t last forever, but you can make your own with the leather sheeting found in our toy-parts section, or you can start getting creative with what you wedge between the lid and paper! Several layers of paper will take a bit of effort to remove, cardboard will require even more work.

Of course the toy works perfectly well without anything in between at all, or to add extra challenge you could hide the food treat inside a knot of paper, and force your bird to work at that through the gap before it can eventually pull the treat out. Or place the treat and then add some twigs & leaves from a eucalyptus or other safe species of tree!

Another alternative is to use a patty pan between the lid and pot then bolt the toy to the cage ceiling. Once you get going there are plenty of ways this funky little foraging device can be used.

You require an M6 wing-nut and washers to attach this product to the cage bars.

An M6 stainless steel wing-nut and two 32mm (1.25") wide stainless steel washer - suitable for cages with smaller bar spacing.

With our Large Attachment:
An M6 stainless steel wing-nut and two 50mm (2") wide stainless steel washers - suitable for cages with larger bar spacing.

Cleaning:
Use hot water to clean this wood toy and ensure it’s not left to sit damp for too long. Make sure the toy is completely dry before using again.

Safety Note:
Please ensure you always use the stainless steel hex nut included with this toy when fitting it to the cage.
