Hazelnuts In Shell
A hazelnut is the nut of a hazel and is also known as a cob nut or filbert nut according to its species.
The nut is roughly spherical to oval (15-25mm long and 10-15mm in diameter) with an outer fibrous husk surrounding a smooth shell. The kernel of the seed is edible and used raw or roasted in many commercial foods.Hazelnuts are rich in fibre vitamins and minerals and contain no cholesterol making this a fantastic nut choice. The sometimes hard and impenetrable shell makes the hazelnut a must for all large parrots as you watch them trying to crack the shell to eat the tasty ovoid nut inside.
