About Barbara Heidenreich:
Barbara Heidenreich has been an animal trainer and behaviour consultant since 1990 and has trained birds and their handlers in zoos and other facilities around the world. She joined the board of directors of the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators in 1997 and is now its first female president. In her career she has learned how the science of behaviour works, how positive reinforcement training allows one to forge an amazing bond with an animal and how many people are seeking information to help them do the same.
In her years of presenting free flight bird shows Barbara often received questions pertaining to companion parrots in the home. These questions led Barbara to write her first book “Good Bird! A Guide to Solving Behavioural Problems in Companion Parrots”. Seeing the need for good information on positive reinforcement training in the companion parrot community, Barbara began teaching workshops on parrot behaviour and training, offering in-home consultations, and speaking to parrot interest groups. Encouraged by the enthusiasm and excitement she saw for positive reinforcement training she decided to launch Good Bird, Inc to further her efforts. This DVD, the first in a multiple-part series, marks a new chapter in her instructional career.
